This will be the 7th year of the Bridge House Community Family Fun Fair, and Cathy Bentwood, Bridge House Director, is thrilled to join her efforts with the energies of the Plymouth Rotarian’s. This year’s event promises to be the best ever with the proceeds from the Rotary’s annual Duck Stampede benefiting the Bridge House initiatives to end homelessness and support local veterans.
Around 4:00 p.m., the Plymouth Rotary’s 4th Annual Duck Stampede will feature some 2,000 rubber duckies or more being dropped off the Doug DiCenzo Memorial Bridge from a bucket loader into the Pemigewasset River. Each rubber duck will be marked with a number linked to a numbered raffle ticket and every individual who has “adopted a duck” -- by purchasing a raffle ticket -- will hope that his or her duck will be the first to cross the finish line at the Amphitheater. The Grand Prize winner will be the person who owns the fastest duck. That lucky individual will go home with a first prize of $1,000! The second prize duck owner will win a boat rental from Squam Lakes Resort (a $300 value) and the third prize duck owner will win a golf outing for four with cart from Owl’s Nest Golf Resort. A fleet of kayaks and Rotarians in waders will be spotting the ducks as they race down the Pemi into a shoot that will take the yellow quackers over the finish line.

The Duck Stampede event prizes are sponsored by Cross Insurance, Meredith Village Savings Bank, Northway Bank, Squam Lakes Camp Resort, The Common Man and Owl’s Nest Golf Resort. Afternoon weather permitting, the REMAX balloon will be tethered for children and adults to enjoy a ride in a hot air balloon beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Fun Fair has a $1 entry fee per person. In addition, Plymouth Rotarians are selling raffle tickets at $5 per duck or $20 for 5 ducks. Tickets may be purchased from your favorite Rotarian or at various retail locations on Main Street. Also, be sure to visit the Plymouth Rotary website: www.plymouthnhrotary.org to purchase books of tickets on-line or to find out more information about the event as details develop. If you or your business would like to help support the event, please consider a sponsorship of one of the day’s activities. You support will help make a difference in the life of a veteran or homeless individual or family.
